The 5 Pieces You Need to Refresh Your Wardrobe for Fall

A new season calls for a few new pieces! Take a peek at the 5 that are on the top of our list for a fall wardrobe refresh…

By: Heidi | September 5, 2018

We hold our fall fashion staples close to our hearts. But when our favorite style season rolls around each year, a little wardrobe refresh is always in our plans.

With just a few new items, you can completely update your fall look to reflect the latest trends,ย while still staying budget-friendly.

Here are our 5 must-haves for refreshing your 2018 fall wardrobe…

1. The Neutral Layering Jacket

A great jacket is essential to any fall wardrobe. By choosing a neutral colored one, you can invest in this piece knowing it will last you for seasons to come. Versatility means you can wear it with sweaters, dresses, tanks, and of course, nearly any color.

We especially love this moto jacket from Forever 21 because of how lightweight it is. It can be your go-to jacket whether you’re headed to a day in the park or a day in the office.

2. The Suede Skirt

What screams fall more than a beautiful shade of olive and a soft suede fabric?

Simple enough to pair with any print, yet uniquely trendy with its zipper accents, this suede skirt is a perfect refresher piece for your fall style.

Solid-colored skirts are one of our favorite pieces because of how many different ways you can wear them. Try pairing it with a tucked in blouse, under an oversized sweater, or in an evening look with a fitted turtleneck and over-the-knee boots.

Psst… Throw on a pair of black tights to wear this skirt into the winter months!

Shop this skirt at Loft.

3. The Wedge Bootie

A shoe that works for your dressiest date nights and your comfiest weekdays? This closed-toe, wedge bootie is the perfect footwear option to pair with nearly any outfit in your wardrobe this season.

Our favorite part about these booties? They’re made by SOREL (find them at Tradehome Shoes!), which means they’re a great shoe for taking on the fall and winter snow in style.

We are strong believers that investing in a great shoe, especially one that can take you through two of the four seasons, is worth every penny. With a soft lining and a comfortable footbed, we would pick these booties a thousand times over in a must-have list for fall style.

4. The Bold Accessory

The quickest, easiest way to breathe new life into an old fall outfit: Accessorize it!

Accessories are so often the forgotten part of a shopping trip, but make your way over to that jewelry table next time you’re out. Bold colors and prints are in this season, which gives us the perfect excuse to buy a leopard print belt (we got ours at Gap), faux fur handbag, or metallic scarf to draw the attention toward our new accessory and away from that outfit that we may have worn a few too many times.

Remember, even if big and bold isn’t completely your style, accessories are an important part to pulling together any look! Even something as simple as a pretty pair of earrings can freshen up an outfit.

5. The Velvet Bodysuit

For those who have already jumped on the bodysuit train, you know how much of a saving grace these leotard-like tops can be. Think: no more constant adjusting and re-tucking in.

For those who haven’t yet tried this trend, test the bodysuit waters this season with our final pick for refreshing your wardrobe. A velvet bodysuit (find it at Express!) is a great way to add in a touch of newness to your favorite jeans and cardigan combo. Plus, since velvet is trending this season and it’s seriously comfortable, you can be confident that you’ll get tons of wear out of it.
