Whether you’re super close with your coworkers, or reluctantly RSVP’d ‘yes’ to your company holiday party, the question of “what do I wear to an office party?” tends to be a question that all of us ask ourselves. While you want to wear something other than your day-to-day work wardrobe, it can be a tricky task navigating what is festive and still workplace appropriate.

We’re here to put your stresses to rest! While we’ve talked a little bit about company party outfit ideas a little bit already, now it’s time to get down to the details! Not only do we have some great outfit inspiration to get you started, but keep scrolling for great tips and tricks (and dos and donts) for dressing for success at your next office holiday party…

Outfit (above): Blouse: Apricot Lane | Pants: Express | Shoes: Forever 21

If you have more of a casual work environment (and are comfortable with showing some skin), a stylish blouse and skinny pants is a sleek and chic combination. Venturing away from your typical work top shows you’re ready to celebrate, while choosing something that isn’t too revealing shows you understand you’re still at a work gathering (not to mention you’ll be a-ok getting your groove on, on the dance floor!).

Outfit (above): Loft

If a skirt and blouse are your go-to for work, glam it up a bit with metallic touches, and give your look a statement style with a knit sweater (half-tucked). Not only is this look classy and comfortable, it has just the right amount of fashion-forward flair you’re looking for, while still remaining appropriate for a workplace function.

Whether pantsuits are your normal workday getup, or you’re just looking for something simple and subtle, swap out a blazer for a nice blouse and add a pop of color with a fun and festive pant.

Outfit (above): Dress: White House Black Market | Necklace: Forever 21

When in doubt, opt for a little black dress. You simply can’t go wrong! We love this long-sleeved number because it’s not only fashion-forward, it is perfect for those chilly nights of celebration.

Outfit (above & below): JCPenney

For the gentlemen, utilize your layers! If you’re bored with a suit or shirt and tie combo, add a layer such as a sweater or simple vest to mix it up a bit. Not only are both of these options great, no matter what your office wardrobe consists of, they give you the freedom to personalize your look with the many color and style combinations available in our stores!

Do’s & Don’ts – Dressing for An Office Soiree

Do: Find a happy medium between stepping our of your day-to-day work wardrobe and keeping your outfit within what’s work appropriate.

Do: Try pops of holiday colors or metallic accents to add festive flair to your look.

Do: Mix & match luxe fabrics like velvet, lace, and faux fur for extra special style.

Don’t: Wear jeans, unless you are certain that the party is considered a casual affair.

Don’t: Get too revealing. There are some great ways to appropriately show off a little skin, but be aware of low cut tops and dresses with cutouts.

Follow these tips and you’re sure to have this whole office shindig handled!
