10 Must-Have Items for Your Fall Wardrobe

As you prepare your wardrobe for the switch from summer to fall, take a peek at the items you’re going to want to have in your wardrobe for the new season!

If you’re anything like us, you have been counting down the days until fall fashion takes over your closet! As we anxiously await the arrival of the new season, we have been soaking up every bit of what’s to come. From our fall lookbook, to chatting about the haute hues and popular prints, you could say that we are more than ready for the fresh feels of fall.

As we start packing up our tank tops and sundresses, we make room for cozy sweaters, warm jackets, and lots of layers! When it’s time to start making plans to revamp your fall wardrobe, make sure these 10 items make it on your must-have list…

1. Puffy Vest

A fall staple that has frequently come and go in years past is coming back this fall, and in as many styles and colors as one could dream of. Puffy vests are a great way to layer-up and add a little detail and interest to an outfit. Whether you’d like one in a bold color or something a little more neutral with zips, hoods, or fur, there is one to fit anyone’s personal style.

2. Leather Jacket

We no longer consider leather jackets a trend — they have made their statement as a staple for the fall season, and we don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon. With so many silhouettes and colors to choose from, the versatility of a leather jacket makes for endless outfit options.

Other jackets to try out for fall: bomber, military, faux fur, and updated blazer jackets.

3. Sleeveless Vest

Something a little new for fall are sleeveless vests. These pieces can make an outfit go from boring to “bam,” which is why we are loving all of the variations we are seeing! They are frequently shown in suede, and can vary from waist to ankle-length. With so many ways to wear this piece, it is worth splurging on this trend (we know we’ll be wearing one all fall long).

4. Skirt Set

Whether it’s a matching sweater and skirt, or something more retro like a blazer and skirt combo, skirt sets are making a big statement this fall. (Is anyone else having Clueless flashbacks?) These sets give off the ultimate school girl vibe, but are chicer than ever this season! If you’re note quite ready to step into the matching sets, try our take on the trend by pairing a skirt and blazer of different prints and textures together, like the ones pictured above!

5. Mock-Neck Tank

The staple basic of the season – the mock-neck tank! These tanks are great to layer over and work well for those early fall months when you may need to shed a few layers mid-day. There are so many great ways to wear this top (we show a few in our fall lookbook), so we suggest stocking up on your favorite prints and colors asap!

6. Statement Sweater

Stocking up on sweaters is nothing new during fall, but this season, sweaters have some serious flair! Whether they’re in a fun silhouette, have added embellishment, or are in a fun print or color, keep your eye out for sweaters that make a statement.

7. A Turtleneck

The sister to a mock-neck tank is the traditional turtleneck. These have been around for decades but are increasingly popular this fall. For being a classic basic, turtlenecks are taking a trip to the trendy side, coming in many different prints, colors, textures, and styles.

8. Distressed Denim

If you tend to follow trends, you’ve probably had a pair (or two) of distressed denim in your closet for a while now. There’s nothing new or special to these jeans, but they are making a continued appearance for fall; so whether you want to refresh your collection or jump on this trend for the first time, the time is now!

9. Colored Pants

Whether it’s a pair of denim or a tailored trouser, colored pants are here to stay – now arriving in fall’s most popular colors. The great thing about colored pants is that they are just as versatile as a classic pair of jeans – they’re fun, fashionable, and (some of us) can rock these long before casual Friday!

10. Zip or Button-Front Skirt

With 70’s-inspiration still hanging around the fashions scene, we weren’t surprised to see zip and button-front skirts making a comeback, especially in suede and denim. Although this trend has been popular for the younger crowd, the denim version can be just as fun and fashionable for all!

Is this trend not for you? Pleated skirts are also making a statement this season. Try this trend for your weekend or workday wardrobe.
