2. See What’s New

Between new store openings, expansions, and announcements, there’s a lot happening around West Acres. In fact, we wrote a whole blog post just about what’s new! Below are a few of the newest additions to West Acres that we can’t wait for you to experience this fall…

CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar, opening this fall, is the first restaurant to join The District. This Minneapolis-based concept features fresh and innovative cuisine, a sushi bar, an award-winning wine list, and a chic yet casual atmosphere. CRAVE’s 7,000 square foot interior will be complemented by a three-season porch and an outdoor patio.

We are eagerly awaiting the fall days we’ll soak up on their patio! If you’re as excited as we are, you can see the construction project come to life on the north side of the mall, adjacent to Forever 21. Stay tuned for more announcements as their opening day gets closer!

In April, we announced our exciting new collaboration with The Arts Partnership: Aptitude. Aptitude is a creative incubator, set to open this summer! Its 6,000 square foot space will feature 19 artist studios and a kiln room, which will be open to the public during set hours. We are excited for the opportunity Aptitude will offer artists for collaboration, and the ability it will give the community to interact with artists. Supporting local art is at the core of who we are, and we are absolutely thrilled to help bring Aptitude to life!

You can learn more about The Arts Partnership here.

In addition to consistently adding new works to our art collection (psst… did you know that West Acres features the largest collection of local and regional art in the state?), we have a new aerial art installation hanging above our fountain, as well as a new Artist-in-Residence working in her studio! Come see the beautiful fall-inspired aerial installation that Love Always Floral installed in our Fountain Court, now through the fall season. And come visit Carmen Bruhn, our Artist-in-Residence, during her open studio hours through September 14th.

3. Snuggle Up in Fall Fashion

It’s no secret that sweater weather is our favorite time of year! As the air starts to get cooler, we can’t wait to get cozied up in the freshest fall styles this season.

Stay up to date on new arrivals in our stores, the latest trends, and our styling tips and tricks on our Instagram and Facebook. Follow along with our interactive Instagram stories that allow you to be the stylist every week, plus take advantage of our social media team to answer your questions about which stores to shop for specific items you may be on the hunt for!

If you love a good deal as much as we do, keep an eye on our social media channels as well as our sales page (updated daily) to be the first to know about the best sales this fall!

4. Indulge in Fall Flavors

With seasonal flavors like pumpkin, cinnamon, and caramel, there’s no time quite like fall when it comes to food. For our fellow foodies, you can stay up to date on the latest and greatest in food-related news on our Instagram and Facebook, but if your cravings are already kicking in, here’s a quick rundown of some of the tasty treats you can find around West Acres this fall…

Fall favorites like the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard and Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Blizzard, have returned for the season, as well as two brand new flavors that we can’t wait to try: Harvest Berry Pie and Heath Caramel Brownie Blizzard.

Beginning September 9th, Panera is releasing a Cinnamon Spice Cold Brew and Cinnamon Spice Latte, as well as a Cinnamon Apple Scone this fall. Also new is an Apple Pie Thumbprint Cookie, which we won’t mind indulging in for dessert after a warm bowl of butternut squash soup or a harvest salad.

Looking for a drink to warm up with? Try Lighthouse Coffee’s version of the classic pumpkin spice latte or a pumpkin spice chiller, or treat yourself to a caramel apple cider (which is apple cider dressed up with caramel, cinnamon, and whipped cream).

The options are endless during morning coffee runs in the fall. The lineup of seasonal drinks at Moxie Java this year includes: pumpkin spice latte, apple pie latte, caramel roll latte, cinnamon roll latte, vanilla maple latte, cinnamon maple latte, brown sugar shortbread latte, and apple cider.

5.  Shop Small

While many of our small business stores and vendors are open year-round, there’s something about fall that makes us extra excited to shop small. Whether you’re looking to support regional farmers and growers during harvest, you can’t wait to warm up with a fresh cup of Joe from one of our local coffee vendors, or you’re on the hunt for NDSU decor to show off your Bison pride this football season, you can find it all from our small businesses this fall.

Did you know West Acres is home to 30+ small businesses – including ourselves? (Yep, we know- it’s hard to believe!) You can read more about the small businesses at West Acres here.

Here are just a few of the ways you can shop small this season…

I have the wonderful role of Social Media Coordinator for the West Acres Marketing, PR and Fashion team. I think that I have the best job in the world! I create content for the West Acres social media accounts and blog, which means that I get to share the latest trends, new arrivals, and all of the incredible happenings at West Acres with the community. When I am not snapping pictures for social media or writing blog content, I love to spend time painting in my art studio, testing out new baking recipes, practicing yoga, relaxing at the lake with family and friends, or playing outside on a pair of skis or my mountain bike.
