Updates: What’s up at West Acres
Update time! There are constantly things going on behind the scenes, and we want to keep you in-the-know as much as possible. Read below to find updates on just a few of the projects currently underway at West Acres.

We know that often you hear us say…”more news coming soon, stay tuned!” and we understand that it can be frustrating.. The truth is, the leasing process can be slow. Finding the right store, restaurant or experience can take months or years to navigate at times, which can make it difficult for us to share exciting news as quickly as we’d like. (Learn more about our leasing process here.) We have some really fun announcements coming in the next few months, but in the meantime we wanted to keep you updated on the status of a few projects that are currently underway:
Best Buy
The relocation of Best Buy is moving right along, and we expect the new store to open this summer. (Stay tuned for an official date!) In the meantime, Best Buy mobile has closed in anticipation of the relocation of Best Buy within the mall. We hope to have an announcement on the remainder of the Sear’s space coming in the next month or so…stay tuned! We are SO excited about this project, and we can’t wait to share the news about what we have cooking!
Food Court
We have some exciting upcoming changes happening in the food court. We’re currently working with one new restaurant option that we hope to be able to announce soon, and we also have some exciting non-food news! Game On, a highly energized arcade style entertainment venue will be opening this summer in the former Johnny Rocket’s location. They’ll feature the latest in Themed Video Games, Innovative Redemption Games, Self-Merchandisers, and more. You will find the crowd favorites as well as the return of Pinball. Think of it as the arcade of the future!
Legacy Sweets
As previously announced, Stabo will be moving out of West Acres at the end of their lease term, the end of May, and we are so excited for the sweet new store that will be opening in their space. Legacy Sweets, from the same owners as Legacy Toys, will be opening shop this summer featuring bulk candy, snacks, retro sodas and candy themed items. If you’re familiar with Legacy Toys, you know that they focus on the experience, and we know that they’ll do the same with Legacy Sweets.
Dry Goods
We are getting so close to the opening of women’s fashion apparel and accessory retailer, Dry Goods! The store is currently under construction, and the expected opening date is around mid-May. As soon as we have an exact date, we will be sure to keep you updated as well as provide any information on grand opening events.
Spring Lounge
Spring may be a little delayed outside, but all signs point to spring inside our new lounge space. Located in the former Gymboree space in the JCPenney wing, our Spring Lounge is the perfect place to escape the winter blues. It features artwork by prominent local artist, Marjorie Schlossman, vintage furniture from White House Co. and fresh spring flowers from Love Always Floral. Plus, while you’re lounging in the space you can view some of our favorite spring finds on display. We will also be hosting a series of events in the space in the coming month – get more details here.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as things in the works, and we hope to be able to share more news really soon including a fun new creative concept that will open once our Spring Lounge closes plus the exciting project that will take up the remainder of the Sear’s space.
We have never been busier working with our current stores, evaluating and working with new concepts for the mall, and bringing fun new events and experiences to our customers. In May we will once again be attending RECON, the annual leasing convention in Las Vegas, and we are looking forward to some great meetings. We anticipate more changes to share with you in the coming months.
This is just the beginning, and we are so excited for what’s to come!
