The Northern Plains Farmers Market at West Acres expands in second season

The market welcomes addition of new vendors, a new location and more selling days

Fargo, N.D.—The second annual Northern Plains Farmers Market is in full swing in a new location at West Acres with new vendors and a new schedule. The Market, hosted by West Acres in partnership with the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society, is an outdoor farm, garden and regionally grown and seasonal marketplace. This year, the market hosts vendors from the Dike East Farmers Market – who were in need of a new location due to construction – as well as other new vendors and returning vendors from last season. The vendors sell items such as regionally grown produce and fresh herbs; regionally prepared jellies and jams; and fresh breads, cookies and other baked goods.

“After 30 years in the same area, our new location had to be well known, have abundant space for our vendors and customers, have easy access for people all over the metro area, and allow us to have the same hours and days of operation” commented Bill Erbes of Bill Erbes Farms.  “West Acres is a great landmark for our regular customers to find us, and it provides great future potential, being centrally located in the metro area, for the entire community to have access to fresh, local food.”

The mission of the market is to foster a healthy community and support the success of regional food growers, gardeners and producers while serving as a community gathering space.  The Market takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October in a new location just off 42nd Street South, between 13th and 15th avenues in the West parking lot of West Acres.  Information on the Market and a list of vendors can be found at www.westacres.com/themarket.
