It’s no secret that kiddos love Halloween – between the fun costumes and the endless amount of candy, can we really blame them? While gearing up for the holiday can be an exciting time for many, it can also come with the added stress of finding the perfect costume for your little one, without breaking the bank on something they will only wear once. We figure if you’re going to open up your wallet, you might as well do it for something they’ll get more use out of! By taking everyday items and pairing them with unique character-inspired accessories, you can easily create DIY costumes that your littles will love!

Here are a few ideas for your kiddo’s costume…

A ballerina may be one of the easiest costumes to pull off – especially if you’re working against the clock! Whether your little one is already in dance or not, the essential items for this costume are easily found and can be used for dance class or dress up!

  • Long sleeve shirt or leotard (Macy’s)
  • Tutu (Macy’s)
  • Tights (Macy’s)
  • Ballet slippers or flats (Stride Rite)
  • Hair accessory (Justice)

A lumberjack is a classic costume that you can’t go wrong with, and also has the added bonus of being warm for the potentially chilly night of trick-or-treating. The best part? You may already have these items at home – all you need is the added accessories to complete the lumberjack look!

  • Beanie (Claire’s)
  • Plaid Shirt (Macy’s)
  • Jeans (Macy’s)
  • Suspenders (not pictured)
  • Boots (not pictured)
  • Fake Ax (not pictured)

With unicorn-everything continuing to grow in popularity, we knew we had to include a DIY costume that would suit the needs of this magical creature! The best thing about this costume is that you can really personalize it to your kiddos imagination!

  • Unicorn hat (Justice)
  • Fuzzy sweater (Macy’s)
  • Puffy Vest (Macy’s)
  • Unicorn Gloves (Justice)
  • Sequin Dress (Gap)
  • Sparkle Leggings (Gap
  • Sequin Shoes (Gap Kids)

Biker Bro

If your kiddo likes to take a walk on the wild side, we love this Biker Bro look created from items they might already have in their closet (and a few that are easily picked up!). Slick back the hair, throw on some shades, and they’ll be bad to the bone this Halloween!

  • Leather Jacket (JCPenney)
  • Graphic T-Shirt (JCPenney)
  • Black Jeans (JCPenney)
  • Black Boots (not pictured)
  • Play Motorcycle (not pictured & optional)

Psst. Show off your costume at this year’s BOOtiful Night trick-or-treating event! Click here to RSVP.
